hackersindex.com internet4cash.comdata center in india?
well, i know that bandwidth in india is actually more expensive then other countries, thats the reasons there are not many of them india.
But i was just curious to understand how exactly this business work?
1. How much it normally costs to get medium sized data center up and running?
2. What are the components [parts] that are essential for a data center?
And just some more general info on it.

You need A LOT money, at least 100k $ . Servers, equipment, workers, bills, building for your datacenter, ip subnet, registration of your datacenter .. Man, you need really a lot of time, connections in real life with people who are "dealing" with equipment and stuff ...

hackersindex.com internet4cash.comThat was quite a general answer. And I am in kinda hardware industry, so i know lot of people who are into selling hardwares and equipments. They are not just small retailers, but kinda bulk sellers.
i need some more specific answers about the business.

GFXFire.com Max-Share.org WarezShares.comAt least 100k? I don't think so Jason.
You see one server would cost at least $2k, well for smth good.
You need to have at least 500 servers to kick start. You need to have your own cables and a huge property to place your servers in. Staff to manage your datacenter and airconditioned to make sure they don't heat up.
I am saying at least $1m to just start up.

loledhard.comthr are some DCs in INDIA already. They are just not wellknown internet marketers. Yeah bandwidth is expensive but reliance & tata provides lease lines to companies so they can provide to DCs as well. You just need to make a list of resources needed & contact ppl accordingly. I hardly think anyone here can help out in this.
EDIT:
lol ItsmYarD, u can start with less no. of servers. SO u dont need that much finance in start. Just start well with 50 servers & then expand.

1. You'd need to buy a building for your datacenter.
2. Get equipment for it.
3. Electricity, water, and rest of the shit.
4. You'd need to pay HIGH bills because It's the datacenter ...
5. You'd need to register your datacenter as ISP.
6. I think you need to pay few thousands $ for registration, but I'm not that sure..
7. Servers, you know the price.
8. You'd need to pay the workers.
9. You'd need to get yourself some IP range, I'm not so good when it comes to IP stuff, but one ISP from my country is using IP range from Russia.
But whatever, as I already said you need to invest a lot of money.

hackersindex.com internet4cash.comI have a friend who owns an ISP. Its kinda big locally... covering around 100 sq.km. Which shall make you understand how stable it is. I was thinking to partnering-up with him for data center venture. I just wanted to get some idea before we sit for a meeting. Ofcourse, I am going to be a "sleeping partner" and he is going to be the "tech guy". But just wanted to get some of my doubts cleared.

L337Fx.com BeastieBay.net@brainst0rm,
Recently I had been invited by Web Werks Datacenter for a business deal. I saw their datacenter building, the server room, security room, etc...
They have been in this field from 16 years and they are India #3 ranked datacenter.
I had a good 4 hours talk with one of their Managing Director who is also their IT Executive. He said, initially, for more than 4 or 5 years, the company suffered much loss. As they heavily advertised in Magazines, Leaflets, Posters, etc, they managed to become stable now. They have around 3000+ servers and they have over 300 employees.
So you can imagine, what'd be their running costs and all.
Its better that you do not open a Datacenter. Also, warez isn't allowed on the serversI mean, they said not even warez linking
lol
Bottom Line :
Its not a good idea to open a datacenter in India, but it can be re-thought in about 5-6 years ahead

cancerite.comI agree with Blaze. ATM India is not economically feasible for this project. However, if you can ignore the high costs and can keep going even after incurring losses for a few years then you should proceed.
