He could just have a slow server, and not want to host you anymore, so any reason to kick you off, find out how much exact cpu/ram it's using and I'll tell you if it's a lot or not.

usually you get a ton of CPU usage when scripts and plugins you use arent written properly and things are messing in the coding

This is the best reply in the thread. Don't buy anything until you get this info. If you don't know what's wrong you can't fix it.

I don't know WordPress, however do you know if it's a plugin or something? If yes disable it.

It could also be that the files has been corrupted? Try to upload the original file as Binary mode.

Try W3 Total Cache + xcache instead of WP Super Cache. That works much better

Being a hoster i have seen many clients using wordpress caches, But i simply do not recommend it if the server its self is using a cache method such as xCache and so on.

I just dumped W3 Total Cache for being a resource eater, yes it did made my site fast but it throttles the CPU usage in exchange of it.

WP Super Cache + WP Minify = WIN

on shared you would be best with hypercache and/or db-cache reloaded. Also there is a very important thing: drop all the image resize on the fly plugins/scripts. Make them run with a cron, or use wordpress-s implemented media/resize feature.
My site had a load of 5-13 on a vps (one core!). I dropped timthumb and with a script and cron i always upload the images from my index pages, and the few first blog pages to external imagehost (imageshack). Now my load is 0.5-1.3. The biggest problem was the image resize script.
