Alright so over the past few weeks i have noticed their have been a few complaints of web host shutting down, People not receiving a backup so on and so forth. Now let me just come straight out and say it.

In simple terminology if a web host does not advertise that they take backup then simply make your own routine backups.

Backup Wiki:
Backups have two distinct purposes. The primary purpose is to recover data as a reaction to data loss, be it by data deletion or corrupted data. Data loss is a very common experience of computer users and web host 67% of internet users have suffered serious data loss.[2] The secondary purpose of backups is to recover data from a historical period of time within the constraints of a user-defined data retention policy, typically configured within a backup application for how long copies of data are required. Though backups popularly represent a simple form of disaster recovery, and should be part of a disaster recovery plan, by themselves, backups should not alone be considered disaster recovery

Now with all of that mentioned, I am not saying don't go with a web host that does not offer backup / disaster recovery service.
Their are many hell their are tons of very good web host in the industry that don't bother with a backup service.

Shoot there are many good host here on KWWHunction that are good and don't even offer a backup service

But as i stated above, In reality you are responsible for your own Data a smart person would back up their own data even if they did have a host that took backups just well in common sense you can never be to safe these days.

And if all else fails you can simply find a backup service their are many upon the hosting industrys market today below i have listed a few:

http://www.codero.com/backup-services/
http://www.hostedftp.com
http://www.rsyncit.com/
http://shackservers.com/remote-backups.html

Now take in to mind remote backup services do come at a cost.

I hope everyone that actually runs a web site actually reads this through
