I'm actually glad all the IPV4 IP addresses are gone!
I can't wait to stop seeing all this ridailous seo hosting, massive people asking for a million isps for vhosts, and all these other things, when they didn't need more than one, but everyone assumes "I NEED A NEW IP ADDRESS FOR EVERY SINGLE SITE"..
YOU are the reason ip addresses are gone. Now what's the problem? You got ipv6 you have to go through, everyone is able to get 65,000 ipv6 ips per person, but no one wants to go that route.
Now everyone that wants ipv4's your going to be paying for them, I would expect over the next 6 months for $2 ip addresses, to jump to $5-$10 per ip, and by the end of the year, $20 an ip addresses, even if your data center has 20,000 of them left they will be gone soon enough with all the idiots hogging them.
Enjoy, you ruined the internet!tedjones Reviewed by tedjones on . I'm actually glad all the IPV4 IP addresses are gone! Lol. It's not like SEO Hosting is entirely responsible for IPv4's accelerated exhaustion. You need facts, not rants.

Dlow, do I come into your threads flaming you? Don't do it to mine. It's not drama, it's a debate as it doesn't have strictly anything to do with anyone just in general.
I never said it was the main reason but for sure it was a good portion of it, I would say at least 5% or more is due to seo hosting, another 5% due to vhosts/irc bullcrap, then another 20% due to providers/companies needing /8's and not even using 1% of them, like if they don't use them give them back, I know Stanford gave back a full /8 which is great, because the last two /8's just got pushed the other day.
Reason I talk crap about SEO is I go to there site and they are offering 500 ips for seo purposes which is just ridiculous it takes me a arm and a leg to get 1,000 ips. Just what the hell is justification for if the data center don't give a shit..
You would be surprised how many providers have 80,000 ip address laying around, and they maybe use 10-20 new ones a week, it would take them years to use 15%
Why don't you think it's wrong though holding onto ips you will never use..
You guys will start realizing when you have to switch over.. trust me, you will.

So the providers still have them anyways, so why does it matter? They'll give the customers IPs when they need/want them

What everyone is missing though, if you have 20, I have 20, and the next 10,000 people have 20, we are getting close to a /8 if we got lots of people to give them back when not needed.
How can providers give out ip addressees that are no longer there? Whatever your provider has now, that is IT, there is NO MORE! not a single ipv4 available on the planet that they can get it from, RIPE/ARIN/APNIC is gone! That's why it matters.. Your provider may have 10,000 now but I bet in six months they won't have any left, or hardly any, thats why I think there should be a plan in action to put more restrictions on them, and give back un-needed ones that like big companies have that aren't using them, like FORD, APPLE, MICROSOFT, I bet Microsoft has 50 /8's that could free up another year's worth of ip addresses for us.
Do you guys even understand what ipv6 is, or the difference in ipv4 vs ipv6?
No one in this world could of imaged we would of ran out of ip addresses.
