    Default Manual Site Transfer Doubts.!

    Hi

I am not going to do site transfer but still was wondering few things....

What if you have a server, and you copy all your FTP files into your server (manually by downloading & uploading to other server).

Now when i try to open the site, it will show me Database Error for sure.

Now i have the database, but how can i upload it via phpMyAdmin.

Its because in last server i had all my database, so i just uploaded the backup inside that database of the site.

As there is no database linked with the FTP files in new server , how can i restore the site back?

use the 'import' section on phpmyadmin to restore your db on the new server
or use bigdump.php if it's too huge to be imported with phpmyadmin

i know how to import a database.

Its like in new server there are no database.

& i tried this thing before asking this doubt.

I downloaded all the FTP files from my server and copied to the test server.

Now i made a database (same as that of old server) and imported by DB backup into it.

But how am i going to link my database with those FTP files in test server?

    what script do you use?
you just need to edit the db config on your script on the new server
usually you can find them on config.php or configuration.php files

then put your db name, username, and password there.
don't forget to put the name of your mysql server too, usually it's 'localhost' if the mysql is hosted on the same server as your files
