    Default Community Supported Filehost

    Hi Guys,
For some time now I have been thinking about this new project and was wondering if anyone is interested and if you lot would contribute to this project if I was to start it, one of my ideas is a “Community Supported Filehost”.

But how do I define “Community Supported Filehost” and how would it help the community as a whole ?

    Well
    1. No Accounts would be suspended (today hotfile suspended allot.... loads of files, money and accounts where lost etc)
    2. Files wouldn’t be able to be taken down because the storage servers would be comminuty donated and not run by the “proxy” (the proxy is the upload main website on the main server)
    3. It would be community supported.
    4. Files would always be there no matter when the downloader wanted it, (we all hate those anoying takedown messages on links!!)

All traffic and files would transfer through the proxy/main site and be stored on user donated servers/computers, the result would be anonymous protected file host, the main problem with normal file hosts is they store the files on their servers but with this random people would store random files and donate random file space, file names would also be automatically renamed in the ideal systems so the anonymous people who donated space would technically not know what the files where…

Let me know you feedback on this project… The main downside as I see it is for the people who upload for money is their would not be able payments, there would only be a system similar to rapidshares rapidpoints but for downloads their would always be the file they wanted, even if they tried a few months down the line, the accounts would be dirt cheap and any money generated would go back into the project.

yeah torrents are fine but they are largely slower than a filehost, hence people go for centralised file hosts and potentually even this sytem, this system is beyond one person having control over everything like the current fully centralised file hosts.

Hah, you saying that torrents are slower than filehosts? I'm currently download at 24MB/s from 1 torrent, good luck getting that from any filehost.

It happens on every single file host, from RS, MU, FS everywhere, so why is HF something special now all of a sudden? PPL upload warez, as long as they do that, accounts will be terminated...so obvious

Not even going to read past nothing will be suspended as you think your host will be above the laws.

I never said the idea or we would be above the law, (i was referring to user accounts as it says in the point) but either way not storing files e.g. not committing direct infringement is a key thing, and would make us different legally to every other file host which commits direct infringement by storing copyrighted content on their servers.

Hotfile does not just commit direct infringement It offers monetary incentives to uploads and commits direct infringement, so they are on a very bad legal perspective, and hence are now doing all they can to try and prove they take action and operate within the law before their court case.

I cannot see it working at all or going long. Law enforcers are not dumb
