Open source is a program thats source is realised with it and is allowed to be edited and redistributed.

Yea open source is for example firefox where you are allowed to edit the source code because the developer/s have released the source code to the public

Open source only means any person can view the source code. It does not mean that anyone can edit, copy, use or distribute it. That's down to the license (of which GPL/LGPL is the most common for open source software).
