extremecoderz.comThe sad truth, as i explained to gavo earlier today is that its impossible to write something that a bot cannot bypass. The thing is, if i didnt write it, somebody else would. I do at least try to help in other ways by banning people, writing scripts to stop spammers n stuff.. So all in all, even though things are changing, as long as those in control of the situation contribute to cleaning up their mess, its not really so bad. I actually asked Mr Happy if he would convert his duplicate links script for the major forum types, and, being the nice person that he is, was doing it anyway for free
We are the warez scene. Its our fault if we fuck it up.. Sadly its only the few that take responsibility and help clean it up.

I kept out the autoposters! And in regards to unique i'd say my sites way more unique as far as forums go anyway. The community isn't growing so much which is pretty hard to do in warez because like everyone else has stated there are 100's upon 100's of warez sites which spreads out the community further and further everyday.
If everyone wasn't too busy trying to making money and focused on a few good large sites then the warez community would have a chance to come back.
Take this site for example. It's community is booming whether or not it's full of twats or not it's still booming. The reason being is there aren't many forums like this one.
As far as i'm concerned there's only two which include here and adminspot.net. By only having two main forums containing similar content and interests it pulls the actual community together which is what site owners are.
The downloaders are honestly few and far between when it comes to a community. They generally don't like to stick around and bullshit they like to get their downloads and go. It's us who have always been the community and it's us who are breaking the community apart. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

SherwoodForum.netHaha, anyone who thinks the current scene (or at least the "big" sites) is organized and makes it easy to find content is definitely on crack.
It's worth noting I didn't say I was going to keep the autoposters out. I actually didn't even say they weren't allowed to post on my site. I told them they'd have to follow the forum rules if they're going to post on my site (as the posting format and whatnot is going to be different and strict). I just warned people that if they do just add the link to the autoposter and (inevitably) dont' follow the posting guidelines all their posts will be deleted and they will be range IP banned (i've moderated a couple of forums and know this can be done, PLEASE don't anyone be stupid enough to tell me otherwise).
The point is I'm building a community, did you really not understand that? Seriously, I think all your comments have been bitching in some way about people leeching from torrents to post to forums or using "new filehosts", or sharing things they haven't watched.
The content has to get from the torrents to the filehosts somehow (although for the record it has started to happen the other way too), if you aren't saying people should only use torrents, then yes people are going to have to move from torrents to filehosts (which I myself infinitely prefer).
Anyway, go discuss it elsewhere, I'm not interested in your opinions on this matter.
I also think it's hilarious that I've been accused of greed, when a large part of my first post explained how this forum was NOT going to be about greed.
I didn't mean the forum will have content that no other forum has (I'm not an idiot). But as someone who has had to spend A LOT of time on numerous occasions searching 1,000,000 different sites before I could find a season of a new show I'm watching I can tell you for a fact that the big sites out there (and really the small ones too) ARE NOT keeping their sites organized and are NOT making it easy for users to find content or uploaders to see what is there and what isn't.
I didn't mean to give anyone the impression that this forum would be able to have unleaked content nowhere else (although I have released a lot of content myself that I later see elsewhere, so content will be coming from here). I only meant that it will be a place where uploaders know when they need to re-up their material and will be able to very easily tell what the forum has, and what they should bring in.
The organization is what's different. While I will be having some friends help keep the site organized and give users and uploaders some interesting tools (most of which I've seen on one site or another) a lot of this IS NOT going to be coded into the fourm, it's going to be maintained by the people who are running it.
I only know of one site that has an organization system that is fairly close to the one I'm creating, and I love it and have been a HUGE uploader to that site. It's also a forum that only allows links from one of those "old" hosts previously discussed that doesn't give the uploaders money for their content.
I joined this forum, donated for VIP the same day, and started uploading and posting to it within the week.
I still love the forum (it's still my home right now), and have been posting so much to it for so long for no money because I CRAVE the "Thanks" I get from the shares (it's like my crack). However, the only filehost it uses is dying, and it's speeds are absolutely pathetic. I'm continuing to upload to it, but the whole forum has been ruined by the speed caps (and also the lack of incentives).
I can't understand why people are so focused on not being able to have unique coding or worthwhile unique content. My goal is to have complete and maintained content and coding that helps the people running the board keep it clean, organized, and user-friendly.

Hey i'm not saying that big forums have it right i'm just saying we should all stick to less forums. Like 4-5 big forums with all of us in them. We don't all have to be mods or admins or uploaders just us as a whole making suggestions and the staff implementing them or at least giving them a test run to see how it goes. There's always room for improvement everywhere.

SherwoodForum.netI agree with you too. I uploaded for awhile before I joined the uploader group (which wasn't paid, but I wanted to be one because we had a cool section where we could talk and coordinate and stuff).
I was then a moderator on a board that did allow multiple filehosts and stuff (and I spent 30 hours doing a complete forum clean and organization). But the admin ended up not taking any suggestions and not changing anything (the forum is now circling the drain as the Admin have even moved on to other forums).
I also agree that there should be fewer forums. But I think the fewer forums (or at least one of them) should be the forum I'm talking about right now (not just 5 WBBs). If there were one out there already (that I knew about) I would have started contributing to that forum. But the forum isn't out there, and some I'm building one.

RapidRisers.orgThis just says you gotta look harder... quite a few forums around have tried and also succeeded to a great extent in getting the members involved in decision-making, not allowing each and every new file-hosts that crops up, helpful and caring community, ad-free and organized content.
But I would just say this...you've got nice ideas...but it would take some doing to implement them and this would be really a tall ask on your own...money [which you plan to inject a lot] ain't everything, you would need the right people at your side.
Good Luck.

What you are suggesting is a democratic forum. The users vote for something and the staff implements the changes based on what the majority wants. Its a cool idea but the thing is such types of forums are a rarity. Where's there's power, there's bound to be corruption. Show me a forum where there is no abuse of power.
Whenever there is conflict of interest in any forum, the admins or the mods don't think twice before banning someone and as long as forums are run by people with such mentality, there will never be only 4-5 big forums where everyone is satisfied.

SherwoodForum.netI do not want a purely democratic forum.
While board admins should be responsive to their users, it's important to have a couple of people who can step back and focus on the long term development and health of the forum (as a board moderator I've seen how much a lot of people are incapable of doing this).
I wasn't saying there are no boards that implement things users request. I was saying there aren't boards that have the kind of organization I'm looking for (and most of them are too lazy to implement it).
It's also worth noting that to take a large forum and then just implement this after so long of it being just a dump-your-posts site would be an INCREDIBLE amount of work for the admins (I cleaned up a relatively small board that actually claimed to want this and it took 30 hours).
