Try the following;

AdminCP>vBulletin Option>vBulletin Options>Who's Online Options>Who's Online Enabled (set this to NO).

I think that will do it I tried it on my own forum and it didn't work but I have other things in place which could be stopping it, if you don't get the desired effect just switch it on again
