TechniHost.Com Blog.TechniHost.Com Forums.TechniHost.Com TechniHost.InWith the web hosting industry the way it is today, its so hard to decide which web host to go with. You can look up web hosts that have been up for a year or so but still they can go out of business just like any other web host. So im going to write a few of my ideas down and hopefully people like it.
When you are looking for a web host, a lot of people wonder the question "Will my web host go out of business" In my eyes, its not the fact of are they going to go out of business, its the fact of how they handle things. Switching owners of a web hosting company is the battle that everyone don't like. There can be downtime involved, price inflation involved and a lot more headaches. I think you should get to know the host, there support team tells a lot about them. How they handle the ownership transfer is the biggest problem of a "web host going out of business". If a web host don't care about there clients/friends then they will simply take the money, give the purchaser the information and leave. Thats not the way it should be. They should assist in the transition, still assist there clients for at least a month after the transfer. Just to let there clients know there in well hands. It IS the responsibility of the host to provide refunds to those who don't want to leave. It may say in there terms of service that its not, but morally and mentally it is. As i said, its not the host going out of business and selling its.
1. Who they sell out to.
2. How they handle the transfer of clients.
3. If they provide refunds to clients who don't want to switch.
So when choosing a web host please please please, don't just purchase the cheapest web hosting. Talk with the hosts live chat, for a couple of days. Make sure that there isn't just one person running the show. Im not saying theres anything bad with 1 person running the show but in most cases it is overwhelming thus slowing support down. Make sure they know what they are doing. You ask questions when purchasing something from the store thats high price. When you goto a car dealership you don't just go up and hand them the money saying i want that car. You observer and ASK QUESTIONS. Ask any questions that pop in your mind, no questions to stupid or dumb. Even if you know the answer to the question, put the host to the test. Then leave, come back and see if you get a different operator. Submit tickets to see how fast they answer you before you buy. Call there support number. Even if you just hang up when they answer. Call it to see if someone answers. Call it at the WEEEEEE hours of the night!
The industry is flooded with people who are out to get money, and get rich quick. They see a little bit of money in there paypal and BAM there on a spending spree, which in turn they don't have the money for there servers. Then they look for more money which causes them to sell out or just leave. Then when there money is spent, they do it all over again. Search google for there names, got 10 pages deep if you have to. Search there company names, past domains registered and ask people on forums. IF they where a host in the past, there is always something on google.
In closing, just be careful and choose wisely. Don't just purchase the first cheap host you come across. In the end its not worth it. Make sure the host does backups every night. Make sure you check out there forums and talk with current customers. BUT DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE IN THERE FORUMS AS IT COULD VERY EASILY BE THE HOST ON A FAKE NAME!
Im tired of seeing people who work hard for there money get screwed over by scam artists and wannabe hosts that think they know what they are doing and end up just taking peoples money!
Good luck to everyone in the search and choose wisely.
