I have no idea why,some of my posts lately start with:
I have no intention to insult anyone, to disprespect or make enemies.
I have a right to my opinion, whether you like it or not.

I will name few facts and then make a prologue of this topic.

1. Rapidshare, not so long ago, introduced, points (read rewards system) where uploaders earned shitload of rewards (amazon vouchers, mouses, cameras, headphones, and other gizmo's, they were selling premium accounts from points etc....)

2. They are original starters of REWARD THE ADVERTISER (uploader) TREND.

They've removed it, simply, because they had to, to not get accused how they pay for illegal files spreading (ofc we all know that is a bullshit, they used uploaders to advertise their own service, just like any other file-host does that same thing today, following their model). Also, second reason is that they were in a lawsuit, so that was something that was demanded from them.
We all know which kind of rewards they were offering for uploaders
(headphones, mouses, cameras, mousepads, USBs, and amazon vouchers)


There were no books, lamps, toys, vacuum cleaners their reward system was specifically aimed to warez uploaders who are PC freaks, age ranged from 16-24, sitting at home, who actually need new logitech G9 mouse, or 8GB USB.

So....

My question here is:

How come no one screamed: "cashwhores" back then, to all uploaders who uploaded on rapidshare?
How come ALL SINGLE ONE DDL site preferred RS links among all other links?
Does no one remembers that RS allowed only 200MB (100MB) per file, and 15-45 minutes waiting time between 2 downloads?

Simple comparison:

Rapidshare: 200MB for free users
Fileserve: 2GB for free users download limit
Rapidshare: 128kb/s download speed for free users (if you are lucky)
Fileserve: 400kb/s
Rapidshare: waiting time 45 minutes
Fileserve: recapthca


Ups and downs?
I remember times when Rapidshare had more downtimes per links that fileserve ever had, but wooo, why would anyone remember those

Rapidshare=nothing special, they lost battle against DMCA and co. in some points, but they won it overall.

What makes you believe this file-host is any better for uploading files, than any other? Just forget about rewards for a second,and take speeds, files life, accounts life, filesize limits, free downloaders limit, waiting time, etc...what rapidshare offers better, for Wrz stuff, that any other file-host?


Another thing...how come, lots of coders, developers, and rest of the crew, that are indirectly making money from warez, aren't cashwhores?
Some people are selling Ads (Katz, warez forums, image hosters)
Some people are selling servers, VPS, shared hosting, knowing what and how it will be used
Some are selling applications for easier uploading
Others are providing SEO services, on warez sites.

ETC ETC ETC...

Eventually, most, if not everyone here is making money out of warez
There is one catch here:
Since there is a lot of bots lately, people can run autosites and earn money, and not tell anyone here that they are doing same thing, and come here to preach about cashwhores, and have that attitude.
They can make scene-DBs and yet allow links from fileserve & filesonic.
Do we know they aren't running some bots behind?

But, hey, anyone noticed what this site is all about?


EDIT: I used fileserve just as a comparison file-host, more or less, they all offer better things from Rapidshare, from the ones I named.

most warez downloaders have prem accs. for rs i get 1.5mbps while fs prem i get 800kbps. also the rewards rs gave were little compared to what these.hosts r giving u. also if u have being using.fs u would notice they r unstable so many 404s, blank pages, server downtimes. fs file manager takes 2 mins for me load while rs is almost instant.

You're a cashwhore if you upload to fileserve or similar because those hosts exist purely to earn uploaders money and the host owners money. Rapidshare was created to provide a professional service, fileserve was created to earn people money, regardless of professionalism.

Also FS has a waiting time AND a captcha, rapidshare only has a waiting time.

Rapidshare, Megaupload, Mediafire, Filefactory, they're all companies, professional businesses operating as such, with actual staff, headquarters and offices (many, many staff members).

Fileserve and such cannot be compared to these and never will be, they're likely one or two guys who figured they'd cash in on this trend, pay uploaders, make big cash, get out. They don't have anywhere near as many staff as the ones mentioned above, if any, they simply aren't on the same level as those.

Because they didn't become part of the 'warez community' just to earn money. The devs and designers provide their services because people coincidentally want them, they actually provide a good service or good products, like every freelance web dev online.
The hosts are just hosts, they sell hosting, they can't be compared like you just tried to.

I have a couple of uploaders who post links manually or automatically, I have no control in how they do it, as long as they put links on my site I don't care.
You are right loads of people run automated scripts to leech crap, upload it to 'cashwhore filehosts' and earn, but yet again they're just here for the money.

These days its about uploading and the majority of users here are uploaders, this is clear now. The slogan may aswell be changed since there's so many.

ask yourself this: if fileserve and similar filehosts didnt pay uploaders, would you even know they existed?

Clearly the only reason they are popular is due to the fact that they pay uploaders well, good business tactics but bad for the user.

It all boils to the fact the nobody likes seeing other people earn money. The same people who cry "cashwhores" at the drop of a hat are making money off warez directly or indirectly. By indirect methods, I mean selling servers, scripts, programs etc. to warez uploaders, making money off scammy affiliate programs like friendlyduck, sharingzone etc., selling ads on DDLs and warez sites etc etc..

As you said, RS was the first host to start rewarding uploaders and even paid money at one time (1 EUR per 1000 downloads, anyone remember?). People were making crazy amount of money selling accounts made from points. Ah it seems its all forgotten now. Granted, RS has good infrastructure but then again I get equally good speeds from Fileserve, so I don't see what's so bad about them.

Let's come to torrent sites. Public trackers like TPB made a shit load of money from ads, more than they possibly needed for server upkeep. Private trackers do whatever it takes to coax its members to donate as much as possible in name of server upkeep, of course a healthy percentage of which goes in their pockets.

Effectively speaking, we have loads of hypocrites here and you must learn to take their comments with a pinch of salt. Bottomline is, it doesn't inconvenience or hurt anyone if money is earned off warez but some people don't like it for "moral" reasons but the way I see it, if there is an opportunity to earn money without hurting anyone in the process, by all means go for it.

Well considering i have been in the scene for alot of years,long before RS and any of the new hosts that have crept up, you leechers (not uploaders,leechers you take real sceners work,rape it and take out the real warez scener nfo in most cases and call it your own 'work') then expect to gain rewards etc from it. THat is what pisses me off. Most of you nu-uploaders are to young to remember warez for what it really is,or maybe you knw but are blinded by dollar signs.
