If you have a busy site it'd be a good idea to get a dedicated server instead of a VPS.

HDD and Bandwidth : Less than 40 GB / Less Than 2 TB
Ram : At least 2 GB Guranteed
Control Panel Cpanel
Location : Netherlands / Sweden / Russia- Preferably the ones without strict rules on sharing links

i am interested in a company with at least 2 years experience; (this is kinda proof that they can withstand breaking DMCA and other Copyright Crap law )

Also, when buying a VPS it's important to make sure the Node has at least 4x SATA2 drives in hardware RAID10(with BBU) - SAS 15k RPM drives prefered though, and a good CPU. I have seen loads of companies with dual cores and single SATA2 drive setup for VPS Nodes. Otherwise, performances will be terrible.

Also, it's always good to avoid "unmetered" VPS, as it's a low quality bandwidth and the network is limited in QoS most likely.
