Ok what exactly am I looking for from them to do what I want. I only have access to my vps and not the whole vps server. Would the hotcopy be the one that I am looking for or what. I am a windows guy and linux is not my forte. I can learn by following instructions and such.

Offsite vps backup I know my host does backups of the servers and all but I still would feel safe if I had control of my own vps backup incase I mucked about and borked something. I am thinking about getting another vps to use as the storage for the backups but not sure how to do it. I would like to take an image of my current vps and store it on another vps. Do my changes and if I bork it then I can restore from that image. The reason for the vps as I have root and can run these commands Is there anything Rating: 5

you can write a simple bash script for this purpose,
it will backup databases & files to a zip file then send it to an external backup vps using rsync
