Default Microsoft: We're not ready for Xbox 720 yet

With the release of Nintendo's new console coming up, many people are turning to Microsoft and asking, "when will we start seeing the new Xbox?" According to Microsoft, they are happy with the Xbox 360 sales at this point in time and have no major plans for the Xbox 720 just yet.

Microsoft responded to this big question by clearly stating that they are not going to rush into the next version of the popular Xbox gaming console, dubbed Xbox 720 by fans. "We're really not talking about that. Right now we're incredibly excited about what's going on with Xbox 360 and certainly Kinect, which is relatively new to the market, so we're focussed on that."

"Consumers are delighted with Kinect, as well as our entire Xbox 360 platform, for the revolutionary experience it brings to their living room. Kinect continues to lead the way forward in gaming," says Microsoft's chief financial officer Peter Klein.

As we know, Microsoft introduced the Kinect in 2010 as a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" originally developed for its Xbox video game platform. It allows players to interact with games through physical gestures rather than using a controller.

This doesn't come as a surprise as Microsoft has been banking on its Xbox franchise ever since the company introduced the Kinect. The Kinect has brought in a total of 10.4 million in sales.

Microsoft has posted a job listing looking for developers for its 8th generation gaming console. Rumors are that we might see the 'Xbox 720' sometime between 2013 and 2014.

    720 nice name.

Good plan by Microsoft to take time and enjoy the revenue from 360 sales which still is pretty high.

Agree with their choice. Xbox360 & the games are still very big sellers. there is no need for them to release a new version until they start losing alot of sales. Since they are still selling well. it would most likely annoy some people who recently purchased new consoles/games.

don't you just hate it when u buy something expensive only to find out after the purchase that a newer version is going to come out?? lol
