We've been avoiding Rapidshare because they were a constant pain in the ass last time. Maybe things have changed now, but I rarely see Rapidshare links anymore.

Last time around we had to open a new collector account every few days. They also imposed a hard cap of 2mb/s on upload speeds (we tried uploading from servers in various locations). And then they wiped our 7 million premium points and required us to pay to store files.

Right now they're coasting on the success gained when they were a good service to upload to. Shitty upload constaints combined with handing our info to the authoritized does not an incentive make.

We'll play around to see if it's improved, but it wont be staying unless there's significant demand for it.

It has spawned several successors (such as SceneFlux, Mukki, DDLTheNet, etc). Most people here will likely not have heard of any of these sites, which is why I'm creating this post today. We create a very large amount of original links per day on many ddl hosts for the very latest releases, however I believe we differ from Rating: 5
