Hey,

Today I received around 5 messages from my forum about errors, here is one of them:

Database error in vBulletin :
 
mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

The 'script' has many different variations, what should I do to sort this out?

I think,
The problem might have occured due to the script cannot connect to 'localhost'
So I think at that time, your host might be down (MySQL Host)
So it caused this problem.

Maybe, there is some other problem.. which I dont know

Yes I did, well at least I am sure I did - will double check.

do u have support with ur licence? if u do then contact vb directly they will sort it out

I'd have to agree with Plutost it seems as if your localhost was temp down, because if you installed vb correctly, then there shouldn't be a random problem due to MYSQL. Also, shouldn't this be in the vBulletin forum support forum?
