    Question Discussion: File hosts overflow

We are experiencing it on a day-to-day basis.

Every morning we wake up to see yet another file host out there, proclaiming to be the best host to ever exist on this planet.

A few years back, all we knew was Rapidshare and Megaupload (and imo they are still the most reliable). After that came some others, like Hotfile (which was very promising at the beginning), that started igniting the whole upload for money niche. But then arose the legal issues and they got sued, and it opened the hatch for more young entrepreneurs to try and get a piece of the pie, and so came Fileserve, Filesonic etc.

And now we face this huge list:
    Rapidshare
    Megaupload
    Hotfile
    FileSonic
    DuckLoad
    Wupload
    Uploaded
    Letitbit
    Extabit
    FileServe
    Mediafire
    Depositfiles
    Netload
    Easy-share
    Filefactory
    Badongo
    4shared
    Przeklej
    Dump
    Uploading
    Storage
    Megashares
    Furk
    4FastFile
    UploadBox
    GoldFile
    GigaSize
    Enterupload
    TurboBit
    Diglo
    HitFile
    Oron
    Kickload
    ZippyShare
    SoundCloud
    BitShare
    PiggyShare
    UploadStation
    FreakShare
    x7

My point of discussion here is this:
Do you, as affiliates of some host that are in it for the money (like possibly most of today's uploaders) think that this is a bubble that will burst soon? Or is it a recycled process?

    Let me explain...
I have been an affiliate of Filesonic for some time. At the beginning I witnessed AMAZING results and it was a true utopia. But as Filesonic began to develop and get known among downloaders, more people bought premium memberships, and so today many affiliates have a very hard time making sales. The reason is obvious - A big percentile of the downloaders have a premium account, and since Filesonic does not provide rebills, it will only get worse.
At this point, affiliates tend to choose one option out of the following 2:
1.Move to another filehost, probably a new one, seeking to be a pioneer and to be the first on the scene providing links from this host.
2.They would start working MUCH harder, still sticking with their original host until it literally dies, and then they would quit doing this and go work in the real world.

Another point we need to look at (and it concerns all those who do this for money) - Do we think that users out there who own probably 5 premiums already (RS, MU, FS, FSO, etc.) will go and yet buy ANOTHER premium for the new host?

This is what I meant when I wrote the word 'recycled'. Does the process recycle itself once a new host finds itself on the market and introduces himself to downloaders through hard-working uploaders?

    Think about it.

I agree, everytime a new host pops up a lot of uploaders quickly move to the newcomer, not thinking about the fact that the downloaders don't want to buy a new premium account for this "new" and "better" host. Enough is enough, there are way to many hosts, this is just like the economic bubble, but soon the bubble will pop and many newcomers will die/suffer.

I can't see why there are still people daring to start a new filehost, don't they see that there are tooo many?

BTW you got that list from FilesTube : P

LOL yes I did And I am pretty sure there are a bunch of other hosts that filestube aren't aware of, which emphasizes the point

As an evidence to support my argument is that the REAL quality boards and forums only allow 3-4 hosts links (where 2 of them are RS and MU).

But the price of filehost premium memberships are all still much much more cheaper than legit stuff. 9~15 dollar can't even buy a legit movie or porn DVD in most countries.

It's two side of the game. If no one upload to that host, the downloader will force to move to the new host that uploader provide. Another side is, if the file host can maintain download speed and user happy with it, They will not move but seeking for the file they want in that host so the uploader must stick with the old host.

If the new host provide good speed and ton of quality files, Downloader may buy a new premium account. Otherwise, they come for a file they want as a free downloader.

Filehosts such as Filesonic & Fileserve already started new companies , Reasons not clear yet .

    Filesonic = Wupload

    Fileserve = Uploadstation

viruz, regarding filesonic and wupload - it is NOT true.
the only thing that can relate the two is that the founder of wupload is a cousin (so iv'e heard, but anyway he is a family member) of Hish (filesonic representative)...that's all.

and another point to answer about what qloolp wrote -

today we have come to a state where almost all hosts offer the same files..it is very rare to find some kind of files ONLY on one host...
