Anonymous has no more plans for hacking Sony
By John Callaham
A person who identifies himself as "Anon" has said in a new interview that the hacker group known as Anonymous has no more plans to make cyber attacks against Sony. The interview at VG247.com has the mysterious "Anon" saying, "We are no longer attacking Sony. There is nothing more to gained right now from continued attacks except unpopularity." Anonymous did take responsibility for a denial of service attack against Sony's Playstation Network earlier this year but has denied involvement in the cyber attack that caused Sony to shut down PSN for several weeks in April and May.
Anonymous started the denial of service attacks against Sony in order to support a hacker of Sony's Playstation 3 console. In the interview "Anon" states, "Our intention with our initial attacks on the PSN was that of a sit-in, preventing traffic to their service in order to protest their actions." However PSN owners were not happy with Anonymous' actions against Sony. "Anon" states, "Instead of listening or reading what our cause was they just became butthurt. Their annoyance is understandable, but their actions were selfish as they cared more about immediate pleasure receival than they did about their rights as a consumer (and the rights of the hacker)."
And what about all of the hacker attacks recently that have been handled by members of LulzSec? "Anon" states, "There is no support for Lulz Security?s actions of disrupting MMO?s ?for the lulz.? Anonymous, as a group, is about activism in defence of certain rights, and the lulz that can be had while doing this. This doesn?t follow or achieve this. Though, individual Anons are free to do what they want."ShareShiz Reviewed by ShareShiz on .
