    Default Ubuntu 11.04 Problem

OK, so i installed Ubuntu 11.04 today and i have a slight problem. For some strange reason the temperature of my Laptop rises 20-25'C when i run ubuntu. When i was using Win 7 my CPU temperature hovered around 45-55'C but on Ubuntu the temperature goes up to 80'C on 5-10% load.

This is very strange because a 25'C rise in temperature is a lot. Upgrading to the latest kernel didn't help as well and the temp. is still around 70-80'C.

Can somone tell me why this is happening and if there is a solution for this?

Is this a new issue with 11.04 for you? It might be worth trying 10.10 as there are potential battery issues with 11.04 (which could be causing the temperature raise because of higher resource usage).

There's an interesting experiment done at Tom's hardware - http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...l,2943-13.html

When i installed 11.04 i had that reduced battery problem but after updating the kernel the battery was back to normal. The kernel didn't change the temperature though.

I have decided to wait for 11.10 as i hope they solve this problem by then, october is not very far now.
