my second computer has got a virus it wont let me open any files/folders to install an anti virus to scan it there is a anti virus installed its saying but it looks like that is the virus it asks for card details to activate it

how can i get rid without formatting

ive put the hd in my external hard drive and scanned it and deleted 54 viruses but its still there

hey use ubuntu which doesnt need to be installed wth a linux virus scanner i guess

I reccomend Ubuntu, used it alot.. but Windows is better i must admit.

Why dont you -

Buy a external HDD (They are cheap at the moment, 750GB for around ?50).
Backup all your files etc, media, work stuff etc.
Format the disc.
Reapply the media etc you wanted to keep.

Then, for extra security -
Do a dual boot with your Windows OS with Ubuntu. Then use Ubuntu for any Downloading.

What AV are you scanning with? Theres a virus that pretends to be an AV and tells you that you have 50+ viruses in order to get you too purchase the software with your credit card. Install new AV and do another scan if that doesn't kill it then you have no choice but to reformat im afraid.

there has to be another way rather than formatting

i cant get any anti virus to install i had to put the hd into my external to scan it which found a few but this 1 is still here

and im using kaspersky

i had a virus that would keep downloading more viruses from the internet and i culdnt get rid of them all, i was stuck in safe mode and when i tried booting and logging in on normal mode i would get buffer overflowed and it would freeze my pc completely

i couldnt do anything, i HAD to format... i scanned with 5 different antiviruses as well as ad-aware, spysweeper, etc

just format.
