akismet cannot stop people/bots from commenting.

well akismet is certainly a solution if you have a better one provide it

Use akismet plus remove the website url form. or completely disable comments like i did.

Akismet is really good even if bots post it will go to spam.. They wont be accepted been using it and no issues at all Spam FREE.

I suggest you install a plugin like NoSpamNX or Antispambee don't use Askimet whichs comes with wordpress it's not really helpful

Akismet is the solution, I also add this on the .htaccess file.
