AztekServers.com AHGNet.comI dont know why people on KWWH dont understand the meaning of VPS.
Its a Virtual Server with SHARED PORT i repeat : SHARED PORT...
If you take a 1gbit connection and divide it between 10 people equally (for the sake of argument, let's assume it can be done), everyone will have the potential equivalent of a 100Mbps connection, am I correct?
Now, if you take a 2gbit connection and divide it between 20 people, we still potentially have the equivalent of a 100Mbps connection per person.
If 100Mbps = 100Mbps, what advantage would the 2gbit connection have over the 1gbit connection? Theoretically, the advantage would be if there were idle clients on the 2gbit connection.
But then again, if there were also idle clients on the 1gbit connection, you would need twice as many idle clients on the 2gbit connection to even things out again. 1 client on the 1gbit connection uses 10% of the bandwidth whereas on the 2gbit connection, 1 client only takes away 5% of the bandwidth.
And if there would be 5 idle clients on the 1gbit line at a particular time of day, it doesn't mean that if you replace that line with a 2gbit connection, 10 people would go idle.
There are too many ifs and buts if you compare the two since there are a lot of variables present. But the bottom line is, a 2gbit connection should be faster than a 1gbit connection. Just like 200 miles per hour is faster than 100 miles per hour.
Oh, and yes, I understand enough to know that a dedi is faster than a VPS... In fact, in this case, a 100Mbit dedi is much faster than a 2gbit VPS. That's comparing apples to oranges. But if a 1gbit DEMO ACCOUNT VPS goes FASTER than a 2gbit VPS, I think there's something amiss...
I think you have to agree with that point...
Edit:
BTW, please notice that I DO NOT mention specific names of businesses, companies, people, not even IP addresses. @Teks0427
Your explanation is very thorough. I hope that will shut snkr007 up. You have to pardon him. He obviously thinks he knows everything when he doesn't.
I've used both Evoboxes and Boxslots and hit 70-80mb/s on a constant basis on a shared VPS and that's on a 1gbit connection.
