    INTERNAL -

An internal release is done for several reasons. Classic DVD groups do a lot of INTERNAL releases, as they wont be dupe'd on it. Also, lower quality theater rips are done INTERNAL so not to lower the reputation of the group. Also, it can be labeled INTERNAL due to the amount of rips already released. An INTERNAL release is available as normal on the groups affiliate sites, but they can't be traded to other sites without request from the site ops. Some INTERNAL releases still trickle down to IRC/Newsgroups, it usually depends on the title and the popularity. Earlier in the year people referred to Centropy going "internal". This meant the group was only releasing the movies to their members and site ops. This is in a different context to the usual definition.

iNternal means this release should not be posted in public place just in some close private area associated to that particular scene group

    EDIT:
Actual Definition: ?INTERNAL? is a scene tag. It is applied to a release for several reasons. An INTERNAL release is not allowed to be posted outside the groups affiliated sites, without the prior permission of that site?s operators.

Such releases are not to meant to be shared out in the public. Only to the forums that are affiliated with the group who has released it..

iNTERNAL means, someone group already released that exact release and it wasn't nuked but the new group Pre's the exact release again with internal tag. If it wasn't tagged as internal, it'll be nuked for "dupe". The internal usually don't be raced and there might be a reason why the group did the internal if you read the NFO.

Edit: Nice copy pasting when i was typing this.
