Spam flooding into my blog

I have had my blog open for just over 3 months now and there has been no sign on spam, next thing I know there is a lot of it flooding in. The only plugin that I have had installed is Akismet and that has been installed since day one of the blog opening. Anyone able to tell me what other methods I can use to prevent any spam coming in?

check the ip of the spammer and add it to blacklist...

Its not just one ip, there is a lot of them or I would do it

lol your blog is probably in a public scrapebox list.. use captcha, moderate comments.

google that ip,if it appears in the sitetopforumspam.com, then ip ban it.

people spamming blogs will be using a huge list of proxies...

so what,if you enable comments,spam WILL come...no api , no plugin can stop...we can only reduce.ip banning has helped in my case
