Okay I've spoken to Ricardo, he was sleeping this is why he did not responde to SMS.

There seems to be routing problem withing giga-international as the IPs simple do not reponde, currently servers are being restored, so far one fully functional the others still not or only partly.

fingers crossed everything will be ok shortly.

After this major downtime which lasted around 5 hours: I fully intend to send a informative email to all costumers explaining the issues and more details about the downtime (later).

This problem was not caused by us, but by our carrier M-Net: They accidently miss-routed only a few IP-subnets, unfortunately also ours. It just was a human mistake, nothing else, and this certainly shouldn't happen of course. Some words from the Datacenter we work with:

As soon as we have recognized this problem we have told them to fix it and they did it immediately. So, everyone reacted fast and professional, but it took some time to see what was happening at all.

When it comes to the Emergency SMS: I should have received a emergency SMS on my mobile at the time the downtime occurred. Although some costumers sent it, it didn't work because all the servers were using our DNS Servers, which were not available to the Internet. So, due to this particular situation, I must say that I should have predicted this and I apologize. I have learned from this mistake and now I will contract an external DNS Service to make sure this won't happen again - to make sure I will always receive the emergency messages on my mobile.

Relatively to what Paul said: we talked through MSN and I definitely understand his concern. His reaction to this situation, it is normal since his a new costumer.

Costumers may request account credit to make up for the downtime hours which was caused. If you wish to do this, please open a ticket within the customer area.

Day 2010-04-08 Uptime:98.73% Downtime:18 min(s) 21 sec(s) -> Reported

Day 2010-04-10 Uptime:92.75% Downtime:1 hour(s) 38 min(s) -> Not Reported

That was DDoS Attacks, where 2 servers at least, were affected at the same time. Unfortunately, it was not possible to block them earlier.
