SherwoodForum.netA New Forum That's Doing Things Differently
So as I've been looking around for various things (including a forum like the one I'm trying to implement) I've seen a number of threads from people complaining about and discussing how much the scene has changed and deteriorated.
Personally, my complaint about the scene is that in the pursuit of profit quality, organized communities where users can quickly and easily find whatever content they're looking for (or be able to get into contact with someone who can get it from them) don't really exist.
As such, I've set up a new forum (which I'm not yet ready to publicly release/link) to build such a community.
The forum will allow users to post links from whatever host they upload to (not all will be included right off the bat, but I'll add anything at user's request) and will organize the content so users have absolutely no issue finding anything on the site.
To ensure users don't find threads full of dead links and uploaders know when their content has been deleted a linkchecker will be fully implemented soon.
I've dumped over $400 bucks just on the forum software (not including the server costs).
While users WILL be encouraged to donate for access to a ton of high quality content in single links (which, due to their privacy, will rarely go down) the revenue from any subscriptions will first go towards paying for the server costs, then towards reimbursing my $400, and after that I'll immediately start finding a bunch of cool things to add to the site (uploader tools, software, mods, coding, etc.). I'll be doing my best to keep this process as transparent as possible.
I myself have a great deal of content to dump on the site (I've been hoarding for quite awhile now) and will be doing so as my schedule permits. However, I'm posting here to see if anyone is interested in joining the team to erect this forum!
I have a couple of cool (and relatively simple) mods I'd like for the forum (as well as some complex ones), and I have some general ideas about the skin I'd like and would love it if someone was interested in (and capable of) helping me design and make it!
Now, I've seen a lot of "paid uploader" links and threads around this forum (and others). I will not be paying anyone to upload to this site. While I am very much a capitalist, that is NOT what the scene is about for me (I'm also not one of those simple-minded "fuck paying for shit" people though).
The hosts will pay you money for the downloads that this forum (in the long run) will definitely help you rack up and in the meantime will give you. If you're just in it for the money then you're not someone I'm particularly interested in having as a part of my community (although when I release it feel free to post so long as you follow the guidelines).
If you aren't interested that's alright and you should feel free to move on, but for anyone interested who can help upload material or code the forum I'd love to hear from you and have you help me shape this forum!
Hope to hear from some of you!
-Maverick
P.S. If, when I do advertise this forum publicly, you decide to just add it to an auto-poster without reading the guidelines and following them I guarantee you your posts will be deleted quickly and if you fail to respond to PMs/warnings your IP will be banned and added to the public list of spammers.Maverick Reviewed by Maverick on . Unfortunately, that idea sucks. Why would anyone be encouraged to donate? You don't need a server for the beginning. VPS is just enough, and pretty much anyone who works can afford it. Spending money on "uploader tools"? It pretty much says: "Yeah, It will be a money making community, everyone will leech stuff from those torrent sites which have great content and great communities, but as I care only about the money. I won't use their site, I want mine, but with their downloads of course."
Lame..

The idea is real bad, why would anyone wanna come to your so called forum? just because its not about money making?
You will have uploaders also at the same time wbb has uploaders.. what makes your forum content different from there 2 million members forum?
Even if it is different for whatever things you claim will be, its pretty hard to make it a success.. and investing 400$ for a new forum, is just not a very great thing to do atm.. when there are like 100 other warez forums out there!

SherwoodForum.netHaha, love the responses. It's really quite amusing.
The VIP area has nothing to do with what I'm saying makes this forum different (the comment was meant to be an aside).
What's going to make this forum different is that it's going to be organized which will make it easier for uploaders to keep on track of giving people what they want, and it will make it so users can get good/popular content that hasn't just been released.
A lot of the big forums (like WBB and TehP) while they have a lot of posts and a lot of content, don't actually make it easier for a user to (for instance) get all the seasons of a new show they've started watching in the quality they want.
Which actually brings me to something I forgot to mention in my OP: I'm not just looking for uploaders who will be bringing recently-released material (although we'll need those too), I'm also looking for uploaders who will be bringing complete and older content (because while us uploaders tend to really be about the fresh scene releases, having old stuff is important for users).
Also, while (like I said) the VIP really isn't about what makes us "different", it's worth noting that this is nothing new about this, a lot of the (in my opinion) better quality forums already have this option for users (in various ways).

I wasn't talking about VIP at all, I was talking about something different. What's so wrong with all of these private torrent trackers? I mean, they're not private. That's the whole point, every kid can get access to them. So why creating another lame wannabe warez forum, when someone will anyways leak the content from those trackers on his forums. There's no point in it. I can tell you around 15-20 warez forums and even blogs that are organized by YEAR!. Yes, by year. And they're not that famous at all. So what makes you think that you will succeed? When those sites exist since 2006/2007.
Unless you know around 30 people that can invite their friends, and if their friends invite their friends. Then you'll have a community, and you won't even need warez section, as people will discuss about random stuff, they won't even think about warez. And it'll become a link dumpster like every wannabe warez forum that allows access to these so called uploaders. Real uploaders don't call themselves uploaders, they share the content when they friends ask them, something that community needs. Not something that these kids like to call "scene releases", lol... As long as they're allowed, warez forums and torrent trackers will stay shit.
Nobody needs another idiot who is allowing kids to post movies that they don't even watch, movie that they don't even know who wrote its screenplay.
